This insect bar is often referred to as a military mosquito net, bug bar, bug net, and a variety of other very similar terms. Don't make yourself the main course to all those blood sucking insects when you can rest easy under this U.S. Government issue insect bar. This generously sized nylon net fits over your bed, cot, hammock, sleeping bag, etc. Measures 200 in. L x 68 in. W. How do you set it up? There's no poles.

It goes with the original WW11 or Korean War USGI 2 man Pup Tent. Each soldier carried 1/2 of the tent and 1 tent pole sectioned into 3 pieces. (You can buy surplus mil poles cheap). Minus the orig pup tent, you can use the insect netting as a a ground insect barrier by using your own homemade poles, or a set of GI poles and guy lines or just use an overhead ridge line and homemade soft shackles attached to the ridgeline using prussek loops to tighten. (see youtube vids) We use them with hammocks using the tarp cover guyline (made of paracord) outfitted with soft shackle loops (made of #36 bankline).

What type of stakes are people using to set this up?

Use 4 poles to suspend the net above a cot and tuck the lower edges under sleeping mat or bedding on a cot.
