Description
We’re not sure what the Czechs used these bags to carry, but we believe that that are a 1940’s to 1950’s style bag. They have a nice elongated shape which would be ideal for carrying documents, books or tablets. The bags are a brownish green cotton canvas with a nice wide adjustable shoulder strap. Three inner compartments. To close the bag are two old fashioned wooden toggles. Measures 10” x 11” x 3 ½”. Used, nice condition.

This is a follow up to a question I asked: Is it possible to remove the internal dividers? One reply said it could be done with sharp scissors. Another reply said, "No, the dividers are sown in very firmly and carefully. This is a well-made, sturdy bag." I bought the bag and removed the internal dividers with a seam ripper. A much neater result than using scissors. And yes, a well-made and sturdy bag.
Yes , it can be done as has open space at bottom , so like dividers are sewn on sides but not sewn to floor of bag . I like the dividers myself . They help hold things upright , like water bottle , or so things don’t get jumbled up . Keeping things organized .
Is it possible to remove the internal dividers?
If I wanted to, I would turn it iside out and carefully use sharp scissors.
Just got two of these bags and inside the main compartment is a small snap compartment. Inside that in both bags, there is a small black tin with what appears to be a block of some sort of wax. Anyone know what this could be?
I was wondering what it was as well. I figure it is some sort of water proofing or a wax for lubrication
Would this work to carry a 5-subject notebook , pens, post-it pads ? Mainly to carry a notebook to field meetings .... would it be to large ?
I think that notebook might be a tight fit. The bag has internal dividers, so it isn't simply an open space, All the rest of that gear would be ok though. The main compartment will hold an 8.5 x 11 composition book, if that helps you visualize the space.
