Description

According to some stuffy government agency, the Cold war has been over for decades. Lucky for you, we've got a blast from the past: "Geiger Counters" straight from a top-secret federal warehouse. Take a trip back in time and experience a piece of history with our exclusive Civil Defense radiation detectors. Originally distributed to fallout Shelters and civilian "Bomb Shelters" during the Cold War, these rugged and reliable instruments have stood the test of time. Featuring the iconic Civil Defense logo - a blue circle with a white triangle and red letters CD in the center.

With a detection range from .01 to 500 roentgens/hr and an accuracy of +-15%, these detectors are capable of detecting high levels of gamma radiation. The analog screen displays readings from 0 to 5 roentgens/hr., with range scaling selected via the convenient selector switch. The zero adjust knob ensures accurate readings every time if properly calibrated.

Unlike many modern instruments, our Civil Defense detectors are unaffected by electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) that can render other devices inoperative after an atomic detonation. Plus, with over 150 hours of continuous operation on standard D-cell batteries (not included), these devices are made to last.

Manufactured in the early 60s, these detectors are a rare and valuable addition to any collection. We cannot guarantee their functionality or accuracy in a gamma or beta environment, but with a little research and effort you may be able to trust the accuracy.

Don't miss your chance to own a piece of Cold War history. Order your Civil Defense radiation detector today. Please note that units may or may not come in the original box and may or may not include the original manual. This is a non-returnable item sold AS-IS. Genuine U.S. Surplus.

It is not necessarily calibrated. You should check it and calibrate it if it’s inaccurate. There are DIY instruction al videos online on youtube. There is also a service, I believe in Utah, that will do it for about $40
