Surplus Boot Tips:

  • Some boots have insoles, some do not. We recommend purchasing a set of new insoles for these boots.

  • These boots are high quality, genuine leather and have been used. At first they may not fit exactly like a new pair of kicks, you will have to break them in to your unique foot.
  • Clean the leather with hot soapy water and renew with leather conditioner and a shoe shine and you will have a fantastic pair of boots.

Are the boots new

No.

Are they steel toed (or any other hard material like composite or carbonfibre)?

No steeltoe or composite. Whatever they use is firm but still has some give (not much). Bought an 11 wide (usually run an 11) and they fit true to size. 295/7 stamped on the inside of the tongue. Manufactured in 2016 but look brand new and show no signs of delamination. Leather lined throughout minus a little bit on either side of the shin. Vamp and ankles are padded and the (non-padded) leather heal counter runs all the way to the top of the boot. These boots are solid. At 2lbs apiece they are slightly lighter than a standard logging boot but the comfort is amazing. At 52 these are the first pair of boots that after marching 10-15 miles with a 35lb ruck hasn't left my heels bruised and my knees feeling like concrete. Live in Wisconsin so needed a pair of actual winter boots that I could hike in that weren't a pack boot but were warm and waterproof and these definitely fit the bill. Anything below freezing the rubber in the sole stiffens up a bit and traction diminishes on ice and hard packed snow but the tradeoff is they will last so wear cleats if necessary. In 20-30°F I run the thinnest pair of Smartwool they make and am just fine while hiking. Static or below 20°F you'll probably want to run a thicker pair of socks which is why I bought the wides.(and there is still a little bit of wiggle room.) Add or subtract insoles accordingly to adjust for the season and type of socks you prefer. Mine came with a thin pair of insoles and put a thicker padded pair of boot insoles over the top of those and they are comfy and still have room for a thick pair of socks if needed. Hope this helps. Embrace the Ruck! ;-)

How much do they weigh? (pr.)

175

Do these run true to size both in length and width?

Yes. The sizes listed on the website are US sizes. They may require some breaking in.

I wear a 10w in RAT boots, would sizing be the same

I wear a 10.5 Regular in RAT boots and the 10.5 Regular here fits me fine
