Made from a partnership between famed makers Rick Hinderer and John Benner of the Tactical Defense Institute, the KA-BAR “Hell Fire” turns a compact tanto into a purpose-driven tool that’s quick to access and easy to trust. Its 3.56" recurve tanto blade is ground from 0.19"-thick 1095 Cro-Van steel, finished in black for low-glare durability, and paired with a heavily textured black Zytel handle that locks into the hand with three sculpted finger grooves. At just 4.5 oz and 7.25" overall, it disappears on the belt yet handles utility cuts, emergency tasks, and defensive training with equal confidence. The molded polymer sheath (right-hand orientation) carries flat against the body via the robust belt clip and offers swift, positive re-sheathing. Made in the USA
Expert Tips:
1095 Cro-Van takes a keen edge; a light strop after use keeps the recurve biting. Wipe the blade with a thin coat of oil after humid or salty exposure; carbon steel will spot if neglected. Adjust sheath tension by evenly tightening the hardware; add a drop of blue threadlocker once dialed in. For discreet carry, mount the clip slightly below the belt line; practice a safe, straight-line draw and re-sheath only with clear visual confirmation. Periodically, rinse the sheath to clear grit that can dull the finish.
