The SP 40 Falcon carries a 3.75 inch drop point of 5160 high carbon steel with a black powder coat, heat treated to roughly 53 to 55 HRC for toughness and easy field sharpening, set on a full tang with a contoured Kraton handle and bird beak pommel that locks into the hand; at 8.125 inches overall and about 4.8 ounces it disappears on a belt yet has enough backbone for camp chores, cord and strap work, light kindling prep, food duty, and everyday utility, then rides secure in a nylon sheath with MOLLE channels and a plastic insert that protects the edge and drains moisture, so it mounts cleanly on a pack, plate carrier, or range bag; and part of the proven Spec Plus Gen II line, this is the quiet little fixed blade that outperforms a folder when conditions get rough and still looks sharp in a collection or kit. Expert tips
Oil lightly after use since 5160 is high carbon. Maintain at about 20 degrees per side on ceramic or diamond, then strop. Rinse grit from the sheath insert to protect the finish. Weave MOLLE straps through both rows for a tighter ride on gear. Use the secondary retention strap only for transport to avoid compressing the handle over time.
