Forged at the intersection of Cold-War engineering and American toolcraft, the Ontario Knife Company M9 takes the bayonet’s battlefield pedigree and distills it into a hard-use field knife that feels purposeful the moment it’s in hand. This U.S.-made, original M9 features a black zinc-phosphate–coated 420 stainless clip-point blade with a plain edge, matched to a ribbed, non-slip polymer handle for ambidextrous control; overall length is 12.25". Its scabbard is the mission-ready Bianchi-clip sheath, with lashing slots and the classic shoe that mates with the blade’s oval port to form a practical wire-cutter for field repairs. The all-black finish minimizes glare while adding corrosion resistance, and the package arrives new and unused, a modern descendant of late-1980s U.S. service designs that excels as a rugged utility knife, emergency-kit staple, or centerpiece for a serious surplus collection. New condition. Made in the USA.
Expert Tips:
Wipe the blade with a silicone cloth or a light oil after use, and avoid abrasive polishes that can prematurely strip the coating. 420 stainless resists rust but isn’t rust-proof; dry thoroughly after exposure to rain, salt, or acidic materials. For edge maintenance, a fine ceramic rod at ~20° per side preserves bite without overheating the steel; finish with a few light strops. If using the scabbard’s cutter feature, seat the blade fully in the shoe and apply steady pressure. Store the knife dry and unlatched in the sheath (or wrapped in VCI paper) to protect both finish and retention strap.
