Are these at all water resistant? I was planning on using them for ice fishing.

You could easily wax them or apply a silicone waterproofing treatment. Though I'd advise picking up a pair of M65 pants with liner instead you'd be better off.

I am a male, 5’-7†185 pounds my normal waist and length is 40 inch waist 28 inch inseam, what size do you recommend?

So I'm just under 5'–11" 160lbs, size 32 waist 30 inseam, and I bought the medium last winter. They were just long enough with the suspenders fully extended, with room to spare in the waist, but I found the rise of the crotch a little high. So I bought the large for this winter. They're longer and a little roomier in the waist – too long I would think for 5'–7" and not easily hemmed at the cuff due to all the hardware. My actual belly diameter, where I wear them, is 35" with maybe 3 inches to spare. So I would try the medium for length and see if they fit your waist. If not, return, or regift at this price. Very comfortable, by the way.
