Italian Military Insulated Food Transport System

Manufactured to feed the masses in times of war or disaster, this heavily insulated container will keep food or liquid hot or cold for extended periods of time. Inside the unit is a steel rack which holds the large aluminum food vessel. The large 7 inch lid opening into the vessel allows easy access to ladle the food with minimal spillage. A stabilizing bar across the top of the food vessel locks it securely in place. The 5 gallon aluminum food vessel/container measures 17” x 9” x 11” high including top and handles. The cooler is wood on the outside and is lined with aluminum on the inside. The cooler has heavily insulated walls which are a whopping 1 ½” thick. A wool felt gasket around the perimeter of the lid helps seal in the hot/cold while the two heavy duty draw latches keep it securely closed. This container measures 21 ¾” x 14 ½” x 16”. For easy transport, two steel carry handles flank each side of the container. This unit can be used with or without the removable food container. This system comes complete with insulated container, food vessel, ladle with forked handle/can opener, and butcher knife. This is a vintage piece and the ladle may not be compliant with our nation’s food serving standards, that being said we left it with the system because it is a very odd piece and it is an original to this item. Due to the age of the other items in this system they may have some cosmetic blemishes, but if cleaned up they should function for many more years. Weighs approximately 74 lbs.

These units appear to be unused on the inside but the outside may show signs of long term storage and handling.
