Description
This WWII Bulgarian Bamboo Canteen was used during WWII, but still remains in a nice collectible condition. These tear-drop shaped aluminum WWII canteens are covered with a thin veneer of bamboo. Each bamboo canteen measures 9" x 6" wide and holds approximately 1 liter of liquid.
It may seem like bamboo is "a new trend" today for all the unique applications it can be applied to. However, people have been using bamboo for hundreds of years. This bamboo canteen dates as far back as the late 1930's to mid-1940's and used by the Bulgarians throughout World War II.
Bamboo helps collect the condensation and keeps the contents of the canteen cooler for longer periods of time. The screw on aluminum lid is lined with a cork to provide additional exposure to outside temperatures. This allowed for soldiers to keep water and other liquids cool while in battle.
